Thanks for tuning in to Heartrepreneur radio. I have a special guest named Valerie Herald. She helps people who feel like that don’t fit in and are craving to be their fun, authentic self. I am excited about this because I felt like I used to live that way. Not being authentic. Her process is the only guaranteed way to live life on your own terms. I have the expert here. She not only has a process, she guarantees the process. She has been there and done that and she develops a message using energy and soul coaching. She focuses on teaching you actionable steps and demonstrates how you can apply those to your life now. That is what we want here. No matter what they say, what you see or what you hear, its times to be you. Crazy, fun, authentic, and YOU. I love all of that. Thank you and welcome to the show.
Valerie: Thank you for having me.
Terri: What is your story and what was going on for you? How did you make the shift for yourself?
Valerie: It’s been gradual over the years. The most reason was I had an injury about 6 and half years ago. I started seeing a pattern in my life with these moments that you come down to your darkest days. You think, what am I gonna do? How am I going to get out of this? The message I received was the answer was within. I realized I have been looking outside of myself to others to tell me how to live. That wasn’t working. I hit on the head told me it wasn’t working. Then I started to find a new way. I found myself and claim myself and started to live for me instead of other people.
Terri: Wow that is awesome. What do you think this is? Why so many of us are not being authentic? I remember feeling like I really wanted to be authentic and I just felt like I couldn’t. What’s going on?
Valerie: Different things, it might be a trauma or abuse we had. We get put into a victim situation where we were powerless. We expected other people to be that power for us. We tend to live our lives based on the past. What happened in the past is dictating how we live now. Most of the time, we are reacting to life instead of creating it. It takes away our living now and being ourselves now. Another thing is that growing up in society we have had people telling us all of our lives that you need to do this and you need to be that. We internally take on those messages and we feel like we have to be that. It’s about returning that power back to ourselves. We realize that what was told to us, is not the way it really is. It comes back to that higher self within us and starting to listen to that. The noise of the world can be so loud. It’s coming back to hearing that tiny voice. Until we get it stronger with in us.
Terri: Can you give us a tip or two that can make us stronger and allow us to be more authentic?
Valerie: Sure, I always say that we get signs all of the time whether we are being aligned with who we are or not. Usually things pop onto your radar and when it shows up you think, it’s just not quite right. Make one small change to create something different. We have patterns and we are responding to situation the same time every time it shows up. When the situation presents itself, just choose something different. Instead of arguing back, you choose not to respond. Or find a way to laugh at a situation instead of getting super upset and crying about it. Just being playful with it and trying to find that different path.
Terri: I like that. Is there a way that we can tell am I truly being authentic? Is there a way someone can know that and sense it?
Valerie: Yeah, physically it’s the quickest way to know if you are not aligned. It will show up in the gut. You will feel like it’s a battle going on in there. Twisting around, digestive problems and anxiety in many ways. That is what I teach first. Tuning into your physical self. It might be a situation where someone is telling you what to do and if you tune in, pay attention to how you are responding to them. You will know if they are in alignment with you or not.
Terri: Great advice. I think sometimes people get signs and there are not paying attention. What was happening for me is I am an energy bubble and a big personality and I was working in corporate America and I just wasn’t supposed to be any of that. I was getting stressed, gaining weight, losing my hair, every sign was there of not being authentic. When I finally quit, everything changed. I became me. I dressed the way I wanted. Every single thing changed including my health. If someone wants just one tip on something they can do today or tomorrow that will allow them to express their personality what would you tell them?
Valerie: Think about that one thing you always wanted to do but were afraid to do it. Like it’s been calling you. Like writing an article, something that has been scary to put out there, or even confronting a loved one to create a new relationship. Just do it. Just grab it and go for it. Just know that there is a part of you that knows that this is the step you need to take. Trust that you have the knowledge and skills. You can do it. It’s just that initial step. It’s a new step. Just know you don’t have to choose the right way every way every single time. There is no right or wrong way. It’s about choosing a different way. Just try it out. It’s not about committing to doing something the same way everyway every single time and finding that perfect way.
Terri: Great advice. Any other quick tips or pointers you want to say?
Valerie: I just want people to pay more attention to taking ownership in your life. I did an exercise for myself for a while where I set an intention every day. It puts you in a creation situation. Where you are claiming that you are going to create this particular thing in your life and then you can take the steps to do it. Whatever it is that you are wanting to change or create in your life, I suggest starting with that intention for the day and letting the opportunity show up that you take action on to create that in your own life. One of them might be loving yourself more today than you have ever done before. Having an intention like that and just let that set the tone for your day. Then as you go about your day, you can say hey is this action creating more love in my life today or not. It gives you a little more focus and puts you in a creation mode rather than reacting.
Terri: Brilliant. Great tip. Before we go, how can people get in touch with you to learn more and bring out more of their authenticity?
