Casey Stubbs, United States Army veteran, host, and entrepreneur, spreads his mission of helping people from all walks of life achieve financial freedom. In January 2009, he launched his first trading business which generated over $6 million in revenue before being acquired. He shares his journey with us as he gives out some secrets that may help you with your businesses. Casey also talks about the struggles entrepreneurs have, providing some great advice on what to do when things seem hard to help them get back up and start running again.

I have with me Casey Stubbs, who is a United States Army veteran and entrepreneur dedicated to helping people from all walks of life achieve financial freedom and abundance in their lives. In January 2009, he launched his first trading business, which generated over $6 million in revenue before being acquired. Welcome to Heartrepreneur Radio, Casey.

Thank you for having me on the show, Terri. I’m very excited to be here.

Let me tell you what excited me about you. The dedication to helping people from all walks of life achieve financial freedom resonates with me. I also talk about people having abundance that resonates. Your story is fabulous. How did you get started into this trading business? What happened to you?

It’s a very interesting story on how it happened. Basically, I was fortunate to have my family invest in me and teach me some important skill sets when I was young. It’s a combination of my dad who was always involved in trading and my dad’s sister, my aunt Mary works for Intel. She was always involved with computers. She taught me how to use computers at a very young age. Taking those two skills, computers and trading, was the launching pad of my business, which didn’t happen until fifteen years later. Those foundations that they set for me helped me where I’m at.

I appreciate hearing that because I looked back at the foundations my parents set for me that maybe I didn’t even realize. My mother was super empathetic and literally tried to help everyone on the planet. My father was a top sales and marketing person, who I worked for a while in college. I admired his work ethic and the way he treated people. I look back when I became an entrepreneur, what led me down that path and why am I on this mission. I have to say I think the foundations from my childhood were important as well and from what our parents give us. People are going to sit up and pay attention if they see $6 million in revenue. Most people start businesses, they hope it’s even going to last, never mind create that revenue. Do you have some secrets you can share with us?

I’ve got a lot of things that I can share that can help pull out. When I first started, I didn’t have any idea of what I was doing. It was an accident. I had those skills that I mentioned is my foundation, but I was working in construction. In 2008, the economy was down. I had to figure out what I was going to do because there was no work in the construction industry. I started a website. I didn’t know what I was doing, but along the way, I’ve learned a lot of things in marketing. The biggest thing that I’ve learned is you want to be generous with your information, being open and transparent, share everything you know that can help people.

What a beautiful philosophy. As people are in business, I often hear people say, “I’m struggling. It’s hard. It’s difficult.” What would you say to people who are thinking that or have that as a concern whether it’s true or not true?

I think that a lot of it has to do with your mindset because everything in life is difficult. I don’t think there’s anything that’s easy. Life is a battle. Enjoy the fight. Business is the same way. It’s not easy but it’s a lot of fun. Every single day I’m at work, I love what I do. I may make a lot of mistakes and get myself into some trouble from some of the decisions I make or business decisions might lead me to the wrong direction but overall I have a good time every day, even if I have a tough day in the business.

I celebrate what you said. I want to reinforce this for the audience. It is about having fun and enjoying. It’s okay if things don’t go perfectly. Believe me, we have glitches here and there. We sent out an email giving people a link to a free webinar and ClickFunnels which we use, it went down. People all got this email and they couldn’t click on it. Instead of stressing over it and go, “Business is tough.” We simply said, “As soon as it comes back up, we’ll send out an email to everyone. We’ll fix it.” We stayed mentally in a state of having fun. I want people to get this reinforced. Casey is talking about something we talk about at Heartrepreneur. Success starts from the inside. It’s an inside job. Casey, what do you do if you’re down or things are down or life is down? How do you get yourself back up and running?

The biggest thing to help me keep going when things are tough is to be thankful. Whenever you start realizing how much you have to be thankful for, then it helps bring you up. I have a lot of tough times, but always looking at what could go worse, what blessings you have in your life. Those things really help keep you going.

The other thing I have to ask you is how many companies, how many brands have you launched? Most people are trying to launch one successfully, so how many?

I’m running five different brands and hopefully, I’ll be launching several more. What my secret to this is it’s not even that complicated. It’s slow growth, but what I do is I take one or two people under my wing and I teach them everything that I know. I teach them to do everything that I do. I run the first sprint and then I teach someone to run the second one. I keep adding people slowly as I can grow and teach more people. Eventually, I’m going to be teaching those people to teach people and speed up my growth.

Financial Freedom: Business is about relationships. It is about the impact you have to people at the end of the day.

 

What is the number one thing that you were working on in your business or in your life? What is the most important thing to you, the mission that you’re on right now?

The most important thing that I try to always keep it in front of me is that business is about relationships. Ultimately, I want to have a positive impact on people’s lives. Whether they’re working for me, I want to serve them, teach them and help them accomplish their goals. If they’re my customer, I want to help them accomplish their goals. I want to help them in any way that I can. If they’re a business partner, it’s the same thing. I want to have a positive impact on their relationship and build relationships with all of those groups all the time.

The final thing I want to ask you definitely, how can people connect with you? Who’s the right person to connect with you? How do they know if they’re the right person to connect with you?

Anybody that wants to grow and learn about business, someone who would be interested in connecting with me. The last thing that comes to me is how did you know that the path you are going to walk wasn’t an entrepreneurial path? I know a lot of people that I have interviewed that have come out of our armed services who want to be entrepreneurs and they don’t know how to get rolling. They feel like they’re not prepared for that. How do you know you needed to be an entrepreneur?

For some people, they have to figure it out. They have to decide but for me, there was no choice. It’s built inside of me. There was nothing I could do to stop it. I wouldn’t be happy doing anything else, working for someone else. I’ve always wanted to do it. I’ve been starting businesses since I was very young. It’s part of who I am. I don’t know how it got there but it’s there. That’s all I can say about that.

I want to take a moment to honor you and celebrate you. I also want to thank you for your service. I want to definitely say, “It’s perfect when we tap into our heart.” I feel that you’re very tapped in. You’re very conscious. You went with your heart and what felt right. You also knew what was important, helping people, financial freedom and abundance. You’ve kept marching and dancing in that direction. It doesn’t surprise me that you’ve been able to launch a successful business after business because you’re staying true to your path. Does that make sense?
