International Coach of the Year
Following are the coaches who were awarded the title “International Coach of the Year” by Comprehensive Coaching U, Inc. in previous years. Each was a nominee for the annual International Coach of Year designation and received the most votes from the panel of judges on the committee for the year of the award.
International Coach of the Year Award 2015 – Zac de Silva
Zac de Silva
Zac loves business – all aspects of it, from the planning and people to the customers and capital investment, right down to the nitty gritty of KPIs and financial statements. So it was no real surprise that in 2010 he started Business Changing (www.businesschanging.com) and became a business coach, creating success for his many clients. Business Changing has evolved into a team of market-leading, best-practice experts who can help most business in most areas. In 2014, Zac was awarded International Coach of the year by The Coaching Institute.
Before he ventured out on his own to help others, Zac worked for several very successful and well-known businesses (at 28 he was CFO of Flight Centre and at 30 he was running FCM Travel), learning business from the ground up. In that time both he personally and the companies he was leading won a host of notable awards, including Best Workplace in NZ for Barkers Menswear.
A chartered accountant by trade, his financial nous has set him in good stead for analysing clients’ books and he’s been told that he is lucky to have a great grasp of the softer side of business too – innovation, strategy, customer experience, people and culture.
Today, Zac works with clients of all sizes (from owner-operators to 1500+ staff), in all industries (from engineering, fitness and FMCG to retail, exporters and fashion to you-name-it) to grow their profit and reach the next level of success. In the 14/15 financial year, the average long-term client of Business Changing grew their profit by 107% (ie. more than doubled their profitability in today’s market).
Zac thinks it’s important to walk the walk if you’re talking the talk as a business coach, so he also has businesses other than Business Changing. Zac is a co-owner of the Nurture Change Business Retreat www.nurturechange.com – an annual five-day business event in Fiji that mixes inspiring business speakers with fitness and wellness experts, to get you firing on all fronts.
Zac has launched AccMe, which is virtual coaching and training software (www.accme.co) – amazing for accountability for clients of coaches. Through AccMe, business owners and managers can also sign up to receive business thinking questions regularly and build a living business plan.
Zac writes a weekly column for the Sunday Star Times newspaper and www.stuff.co.nz and contributes regularly to the NZ Herald, as well as contributing to various magazines. He is a member of the Institute of Directors, a judge for the Westpac Business Awards, and has had big involvement in the Gifted Kids Programme and Books in Homes charities. He also sits on the board of directors or advisory boards for several clients.
Zac has three children, a fiancé and is getting better all the time at work life balance – ie. walking the talk!
International Coach of the Year Award 2014 – Zac de Silva

“Zac de Silva owns Business Changing and set it up in early 2010. Business Changing focuses on helping businesses grow their profits quicker than previous thought possible. Zac and his team work with businesses of all sizes and industries and they bring both the commercial, hard edge needed to grow profitability along with the softer edges of leadership, better workplaces and world-class customer experience. They work with around 100 clients per annum. Each year, a handful of Business Changing clients make the Deloitte Fast 50 and many other clients win local and global awards for being the best in their business category.”
Zac was previously Managing Director of Barkers (where Barkers won “the best workplace in NZ” and also the MYOB “Awesome Customer Service” award) and also was MD of House of Travel Holidays and CFO for Flight Centre Ltd and launched FCM Travel into NZ and ran that for several years. Zac’ s first job was as an auditor at Deloittes (time flies!). International Coach of the Year Award 2008 – Donna Latin
Donna Latin is a Certified Comprehensive Coach, graduating from Terri Levine’s Coaching Institute, and is the founder of Leaping Through Change-LTC Coaching & Consulting.
As a former management consultant, working in the corporate settings of the USA, Switzerland, Belgium, the UK and others, Donna developed skills in communications & consulting and knowledge in internal organizational efficiencies. She learned a lot about how various businesses work, and how to make each of them succeed further– by focusing on the bottom line for the corporation. Donna found the thing she most enjoyed was helping the individuals within the organization to embrace change. So after working in Europe for many years, she and her family returned to the USA in 2006. At that time, Donna decided to become a Certified Comprehensive Coach-focused on helping small business owners ignite the passion in their business, and turn it into a future that’s brighter than they ever thought possible.
Donna’s purpose as a coach is reflected in her business name – to show her clients the way to LEAP THROUGH CHANGE. Whether you’re the owner of a small business or the manager in a large company, Donna works with her clients to teach them how to truly tap their greatest resource (themselves!). It’s her belief that her role as a coach is to help her clients to discover their own answers within themselves. LTC Coaching offers a method for improving clients’ business, and achieving their goals- pure and simple. Donna’s clients will create an action plan and the means for self-based growth. As their coach, she gives them the proper push they’ve been seeking to keep them on track and complete their plans.
Donna regularly speaks to local networking groups and small business owners about helping them identify, distinguish and act on the right choices to help them start taking back control of their business and making the lasting change in their life that they’ve been looking for. Her aim is to help individuals see all change as the growth opportunity it really is!
