Hey there, welcome back to Digital Marketing for Coaches and Consultants brought to you by Heartrepreneur agency. Now, today I want to talk about content marketing, which is how your prospects really get to know you, they get to like you, and to trust you. And all of that is what positions you to be known in your marketplace. And understanding how the web and this sort of digital universe fits together, an important concept is to understand how content marketing really does work because, instead of sitting around waiting for prospects, content marketing starts to bring those prospects to you.

So, the way people come in, I think of the top of a funnel, we talked about this a lot. Well, at the top of the funnel, in our experience running the agency, and helping so many coaches and consultants, and actually doing this my own business, people find us through our website. Now, most people don’t get leads from their website because it’s not set up to be a lead-generating site. If you go over to heartrepreneur.com, you’ll see it’s a lead-generating site. So, website visitors come in. The site also has the right keywords, the right meta tags, the right SEO, and the right design. All of that is important.

When they come in, they’re given a low or no-risk offer, that’s the first thing you want to do that’s highly valuable. In our case, it’s a brief conversation to see if what we even have could be helpful. Then we direct them to a piece of content, usually video content so they can get to know you, like you, trust you even better. And once they’re involved in that video content, then — so if you think that funnel — they come down the funnel a little bit more. Now you can give them some type of an offer, again, a low-risk offer, something with a guarantee, something where they’re dipping their toe in the water just to get a taste of who you are and what you do.

As they go further down that funnel, then you’re giving them more content, education, and value. So, the top of the funnel, coming into your website is where they get to know you. As you give them that video content absolutely free, that’s where they’re getting to like you, and the trust comes in when your content continues to give them value and education.
