The pressures of trying to become successful can be quite discouraging, but that is only because of the lack of faith you have in your own abilities. Founder of Evercoach and co-founder of Mindvalley Ajit Nawalkha shares how he found his way out of the lack of abundance of personal space to his own personal development and freedom. Starting from his local community in India, he got in touch with many people around the world whom he learned the meaning of having an abundant reality from. He teaches how in business, the best asset that you can have is yourself. Ajit believes creating a multi-million dollar business and becoming a successful entrepreneur is all about finding and getting familiar with what is within.

Finding Your Abundance In Personal Space And Business with Ajit Nawalkha
I have with me Ajit Nawalkha. He’s an entrepreneur, a business coach and Founder of Evercoach, an author of The Book of Coaching and a Co-Founder of Mindvalley. Mindvalley is one of the biggest publishers in the personal development space. Having found his way from a middle-class family in India to top stages of personal development and business growth conferences, he learned that it’s possible to create the abundant reality we want. He’s getting ready to share the strategies that helped him build numerous multi-million-dollar businesses and he’s got a book called Live Big. I’m so excited to have you here. Welcome, Ajit.
Thank you so much for having me. I’m excited to be here too.
I’m thrilled to have you. I’m quite familiar with Evercoach. I’m super familiar with Mindvalley and I can’t believe I haven’t met you on the journey. How did you find your way into personal development?
It’s a long story. I grew up in a house of 23, in a middle-class family in India. As I was growing up and you live with 23 other people, it was like my extended family, my cousins, everybody lived together, you can imagine there was a lack of abundance of personal space, lack of abundance of what you can possibly do and what you can’t do, so on and so forth. I grew up in a reality like that, which had me question very early on as to how do I get out of this reality? How do I make a new reality for myself? Initially, I had to shift when mentors and teachers showed up. Initially, I never used to read books but eventually, I realized that the best way to get mentored and the some of the best ways to get coached is to pick a book, pick a program, go to a seminar. That’s how I got exposed to personal development. It happened first because of my local journey. By local journey, I mean within India, within my community, just me trying to find answers and talking to people who seem to be on the path or already there where I wanted to be. Eventually, moving to different parts of the world and experiencing it in many different ways. Joining Mindvalley, experiencing through that, a lot of mentors, having seminars through that and so forth. It’s been a long journey.
That’s been a fascinating journey and I appreciate hearing where you started from. What does this mean to create the abundant reality we want? What do you mean by that?
I used the word abundance and abundant instead of wealth or money because it’s different for everybody. What do you mean by abundance is different in context of how you see life. For example, abundance for me means a lot of time. It means an abundance of love and friendship. It means an abundance of money and wealth. It means an abundance of whatever I choose to have. That’s what abundance means for me, but it is different for everybody. Some people value other things as abundance and that’s what shapes their experience and some people value other things. For me, initially, it was all about money and wealth. Now, it’s a lot about time and time with family, friends, health, wellness and money too, but it doesn’t take the first priority anymore.
Whenever I mention the word abundance, I notice people instantly go to dollar signs and I get that and I understand that. I have found that the older I get and the more experienced I get, I work on creating more and more time and enjoy having an abundance of time to be fully present with my family, my client family members, living my life. Clearly, there are so many people out there that are trying to build $100,000 business, some that are trying to build $1 million business. Like me, you have had numerous multimillion-dollar businesses. What are some of the tips, tools or strategies that are within you? I believe that those of us who have been able to create many multimillion-dollar businesses, we’ve got something special that we know. What’s your special sauce?
I might not be able to pinpoint one thing per se here, but one of the greatest assets that entrepreneurs have and don’t seem to utilize a lot is themselves. They think that success of a business lies in some strategy or success of the business lies in some particular tactics that are popular right now, it lies in the social media or so forth, whatever that exciting new thing that is out there. That’s not where business success lies. That’s what I’ve found through our research, through having a ton of conversations with a lot of very successful, not only entrepreneurs but people who are top executives in companies. You will see the thing that they subconsciously or consciously are aware of is the greatest asset that they have, the greatest value proposition that they bring to the world is themselves fully, powerfully, and unapologetically. If they can do that, if they can live to their fullest power, if they can maintain the states, we got positive and forward thinking, they can create whatever business they want to create. If you want to create a $100,000 company, you can do that. If you want to create a $10 million company, you can do that. It’s not impossible for anyone. It seems impossible when you’re not there, but as you go along the journey you feel like it was always possible. It mostly has to do with the entrepreneur himself or herself.
That’s some of the best advice I’ve ever had anyone give on the show because people are looking for a magic bullet. “You have to do X, Y, Z or the business has to look like this.” I’ve told people something very similar. It comes from within. It is something that comes from within and it is up to the entrepreneur. How did you come to write Live Big? What’s the value in the message behind your book, Live Big?
The journey started when I was running Mindvalley. For the ones who don’t know Mindvalley, they can check it out at Mindvalley.com. The company revolves around creating a school for humanity, a new envisioning for humanity to be able to see how we can create a humanity plus company, create positive ideas and push them forward. As I was on my journey to figure out what abundance was for me and to create abundance for myself in many different ways, I stumbled on to this company. At that time, it was a small enterprise. There were twenty people in the company at that time. It’s a new venture, we’re still figuring out who we were, what we were doing and what we wanted to do in the world. I happened to join that organization at that time and I created many companies in partnership with Mindvalley.What you mean by abundance is different in context with how you see life. Click To Tweet
I quit Mindvalley for a little bit, sold some of my companies to Mindvalley, sold some of my companies outside of Mindvalley, so on and so forth. I’ve had a full entrepreneurial experience after that. During that course, there was a time where I led the company. I became the CEO of the company because that was my passion at that time. I started to grow the company in. I was fortunate to be able to grow the company but what had happened in the process was I personally started to deteriorate my relationships with my parents, with my family, and with my loved ones. My health started to suffer and I felt, as a leader, I wasn’t the leader that I always wanted to be. I had become somebody else. The reason I discovered later only was because I had attached myself so much to the anxiety of being an entrepreneur, the constant chase of being an entrepreneur. The constant comparison of being an entrepreneur, the constant scarcity of being an entrepreneur, that I had forgotten that the point of us becoming an entrepreneur is to create something great for our lives and for the world at the same time.
For both of those reasons, there’s no point of us being able to create something that is great and us not being there anymore or our souls not being there anymore as we operate in that reality. That challenged me at that point and sent me on a journey of discovering as to what is it that can build a formidable organization, wonderful organizations, but also respect the entrepreneur, cherish the entrepreneur, have the entrepreneur, live a big life. That got me to come up, not only come up like some of these are personal experiments. Some of the experiments that we talk about in the book are inspired by other people’s work. Some of the work is inspired by other entrepreneurs. People that we have had a chance to actually interact with, write down their stories, read their stories, and figure out what makes an entrepreneur live a big life. Live a big life means it’s not only a life limited to, “Can I do twelve, sixteen hours a day? Can I make $1 billion?” A big life is a complete full life, a life that is lived on your own terms and cherished every moment while creating something that is wonderful for the world.
That was the reason why I created Live Big. That’s what Live Big is all about, is to be able to give you the perspective when
you need it as an entrepreneur, give you the insight when you need it as an entrepreneur. It’s not a strategy book. It doesn’t give you a step one through ten. It gives you insight. A belief that as an entrepreneur, you’re smart, you’re intelligent, and that’s why you are where you are. What you need is a nudge at the right time, a perspective and an insight at the right time. That’s what Live Big does.
I’m very excited about Live Big because very much aligned with you is the word Heartrepreneur. That is our trademark, our brand and our company name which is all about creating something amazing for yourself and then, passing that forward to your client, family members, and being of service to the world. Many people have pieces of life, but in my experience in working with so many people, they don’t have everything. They don’t have a comprehensive, full, juicy, and delicious life. People keep picking up books and tools and everything else with one strategy after the next, “I’ll try this strategy that didn’t work, I’ll try somebody else’s strategy.” I love that Live Big is filled with insights and perspectives because I do believe that’s what people need at this time.
