Hey, it’s Dr. Terri Levine from Heartrepreneur. Welcome back to Digital Marketing for Coaches and Consultants. Today, I’m going to reveal my big money simple formula. I’m going to go through a technique that I use to master what I call big money skills, like writing emails that generate cash. And I call it the 100 times threshold. But before I explain how it works, and how you can use it to learning big money skill, let me give you a little bit of context. So, I’m a business consultant, I’m a writer, and video fascinates me. And like learning any other big money skill, I naturally had a ton of questions when I first started creating videos, like do I need a script?
How do I write a good script? Should I use captions? What mics should I use? Should I use an iPhone? Round and round on what I call the carousel of inaction. And this is when excessive overthinking bleeds into procrastination and you end up doing nothing because you’re questioning everything. Ever been there? Okay. It’s a trap. And yes, I fell into it and it happened with my short-form videos. Then, I got reminded of a technique that a friend shared with me probably a decade ago. And what he told me is, “Just put out 100 videos. Don’t worry about anything else, just pull out your phone, record a video, and post it. Do that 100 times.”
Now, once I recalled this, it occurred to me that, every time that I have successfully learned a big money skill, I used the 100 times threshold, I just didn’t know it by that name. So, take my email list for example, this month alone, I’ve generated $57,000 just from sending out value-based emails. Now, when I started in this industry over 30 years ago, I struggled to even write a single email. They were hard to write and they generated no money at all. So, what did I do? Did I give up? Heck no. I pushed through because I knew the first 100 emails are going to suck.
And I accepted that from the get-go, I gave myself permission to fall flat on my face 100 times in a row. I took the pressure off myself. I saw that first 100 as a failure. However, those failures were giving me a threshold to get through before I started making money. And now, I have the skill to make money at will. Do you see how that works? Okay, so far too often, people who call themselves perfectionists, I used to, but not anymore, never learn big money skills because they’re too hard on themselves. And that might be you. They want to get as fast as possible to be great at what they’re doing.
And things don’t work that way. So, then they get frustrated. They give up, and then they kind of just move on and they never really learn that skill. Instead, if they had given themselves, and if you had, to be imperfect for 100 shots at a goal, let’s say, they would end up crossing that 100 times threshold, and you would, and master the skill faster than ever. So, that’s my little spiel here today of Digital Marketing for Coaches and Consultants. Remembering what a friend said to me a decade ago, I’ve posted two videos right now on my social media feed and I’m going to make my way past that 100 times threshold.
My estimation is by this time next year, I will have added short-form videos into my big money toolbox. You have one of those, don’t you? If not, you need to be building it today. I suggest you pick up one big money skill and you start working on the 100 times threshold ASAP.
